Nurses on this unit care for children ages six to eighteen, included on the unit is a ten-bed all-age pediatric hematology/oncology/immunology unit. Nur! ses care for children and adolescents requiring intervention for complex medical and surgical disorders including cystic fibrosis, orthopedic surgery, neurological disorders, childhood cancers, bone marrow transplantation, organ transplantation, and the need for rehabilitation. The nursing staff on this unit create an environment that fosters opportunities for normal growth and development through school and daily recreation program. Madison area's only approved hospital school is adjacent to unit.
Must Have:
Peds Experince in Heme/Onc, Neuro Surg & Plastic Surg
Completion of one previous travel assignment*
Must have permanent address outside 100 mile radius of Madison, WI
Must have completed two years of acute care experience
Preferred:
1. EPIC experience--strongly preferred
START DATE: earliest possible
SHIFT: 12 N
The role of the pediatric nurse (Pedi RN / Peds RN) is to provide compr! ehensive, age-appropriate care to patients aged approximately ! 30 days to 18 years. Working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, pediatric nurses specialize in providing age-appropriate care for children with a variety of physical and mental disabilities and/or acute and chronic medical and surgical conditions. The Pedi RN also collaborates with the patient’s family to best promote healthful practices and disease prevention.
