Requirements: This position is for a highly motivated individual with a vigorous goal of developing an independent research career. A Ph.D. and a strong background in relevant biological sciences are required (i.e., neuroscience, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology). Experience in stem cells, vision research, microscopy, and animal handling is preferred but not required. Qualified candidates should have published primary research papers in internationally recognized journals. In addition to experimental skills, this postdoctoral researcher will also receive training critical for future academic jobs, including grant/fellowship application and student supervision. The PI’s laboratory is located in the State-of-the-Art Wisconsin Insti! tute for Medical Research ( WIMR ) with convenient access to m! ultidisciplinary collaborations and cutting-edge research facilities. Job_Duties: This research associate will undertake an NIH -funded new project. The research features studies on retinal neuro-degeneration and regeneration with new perspectives and translational opportunities ( http://vision.wisc.edu/people/guo ). Multidisciplinary approaches on integral intracellular signaling and in vitro/in vivo models will be applied through inter-departmental collaborations, e.g., with Dr. Robert Nickells in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences, and Dr. David Gamm at the McPherson Eye Research Inst! itute. Thus, a successful scientist will need to develop both independent and collaborative experiments in one or more areas.
