Education and Experience: Possession of a degree from a fully accredited medical ! school; completion of a three year or longer ACGME accredited residency in a primary care discipline (family practice internal medicine med/peds or psychiatry preferred); Board Eligibility or Certification in a primary care discipline required; possession of or eligibility for license to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Wisconsin required. Federal Drug Administration registration desirable.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the principles practices methods techniques literature and new developments in primary care medicine; demonstrated skill and ability in the examination care treatment and therapy of patients with medical or surgical conditions in primary care medicine; knowledge of all HSU policies and procedures that affect all clinical staff; ability to update professional knowledge on a continuous basis administrative and supervisory ability; ability to conduct consultative and clinical conferences; ability to create and maintai! n harmonious relationships with the staff patients and relativ! es of patients.; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with security personnel and other professionals and/or agencies.
Duties: Under general direction to be responsible for the observation assessment diagnosis care and treatment of patients at the Behavioral Health Division and/or its clinics the Criminal Justice Facility and/or House of Correction; to organize assign and supervise the work of physicians trainees in graduate medical education programs medical students and nursing personnel; to provide for or assist in the instruction and training of physicians trainees in graduate medical education programs medical and nursing students and graduate nurses; to serve as consultant to trainees in graduate medical education programs and medical students; to maintain high standards of professional service and initiate changes necessary for proper and efficient operation; to coordinate medical services with other medical facility programs and related patie! nt care services when assigned to conduct ward rounds; to organize and conduct research; to assist and participate in staff conferences; to direct the preparation and maintenance of medical reports and records; to maintain the provision of acute medical care to all patients during evening weekend and holiday hours as needed; to direct or take a lead role during medical emergencies that may occur during the shift; to make referrals for routine urgent or emergency treatment services; to consult with outside physicians ancillary professionals agencies and/or other interested individuals and groups; to maintain appropriate and timely medical record documentation in conformance with all required standards and to perform such other duties as assigned.
This position is open on a continuous basis until a sufficient pool of applicantsâ has been established and will close without prior notification. THE EXAMINATION is open to qualified residents of the United States. Appoi! ntee must establish residence within the confines of the State of Wisco! nsin within six months of appointment and maintain such residence during incumbency.

This requirement impacts all positions authorized in Milwaukee County department of Human Services Mental Health Division as well as other positions in County Service.
