Responsibilities:
Possesses an extensive understanding and intuitive grasp of a situation enabling rapid assessment of the whole and
attention to the most pertinent. Demonstrates exquisite foresight in ! anticipating problems and intervenes before explicit
diagn! ostic signs are evident and applies innovative interventions and nursing skills/technology to carefully correlate to the

Communicates clearly and convincingly to make the clinical case in order to obtain timely and appropriate responses
from members of the health care team. Negotiates conflict by focusing on patient outcomes and promoting collaboration
and identifies dilemmas and offers constructive coping strategies. Prevents future complications or adverse situations
through preventive actions.

Participates in t! he development of colleagues to positively influence quality of care.
Acts as advocate by challenging the interdisciplinary team/system to expand boundaries to better meet the needs of the
patient/family and unit. Collaborates with other caregivers to challenge current practices and synthesize research
findings to develop optimal systems to achieve the most effective patient and family outcomes.
Develops a relationship with patient and family immediately, intuitively, effortlessly, and has a broad repertoire of
interventions for every step. Establishes a trusting relationship grounded in a philosophy „being with‟ rather than „doing to „
and honors the patient‟s choices, values, beliefs, and struggles.
Anticipates and supports emotional needs (e.g. vulnerability, loss, coping) of patient and family. Embodies a caring
attitude and provides an environment of hope and trust in which gentleness and compassion allow for the development of!

Assists the patient/family in incorporating condition-related issues with lifestyle changes. Provides education and skills in
the way that fit the patient‟s/family‟s needs. Anticipates learning needs, creates a plan proactively and makes no

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients
served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the
ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and inter! pret the appropriate information needed to identify each
patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the
department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

Qualifications:
Registered Nurse license issued by the state of Wisconsin

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). May obtain within 6 months based on department discretion Associate's degree in Nursing.

Requires 3 years of experience in clinical nursing.
