Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship. The fellowship is accredited by the ACGME. The core of th! e training program involves the anesthetic care of obstetric patients throughout their pregnancy and labor and delivery experience, including pre-anesthesia evaluation, intrauterine and fetal surgery, labor and delivery care, and post-anesthesia care. We are exceptionally proud of our fellows’ experience in the care of adult congenital heart patients and in our developing fetal and placental surgery programs.
A minimum of two months of research is required in the program; current projects include obesity in pregnancy and multidisciplinary communication.
The Obstetric Anesthesiology practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin provides care at two locations: the Froedtert Birth Center (physically located within Children’s Hospital of WI), and St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center (Wheaton Hospitals and Clinics). Together, those hospitals provide obstetric services for nearly 5000 deliveries per year, and both hospitals are regional high-risk centers fo! r their systems.
