The Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting dental specialists by providing diagnostic, treatment, and educational services to patients and family members. The Dental Assistant is als! o expected to ensure the support, safety and comfort of the patient.
Education/Learning Experience:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an approved dental assistant program or 2-3 years equivalent dental or health care experience.
- Desired: Previous work within a dental office, oral surgery or operating room setting.
- Required: Professional demeanor and appearance. Excellent communication skills. Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
- Desired: Ability to work independently. Computer skills.
- Required: Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR certification or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR certification. If position requires Iowa outreach, Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification from Iowa is required.
- Me! dium/light work continuously throughout an 8-9 hour workday. May involve standing, static position, and twisting and bending throughout the day. Fine motor skills and dexterity while handling and gripping instruments. Walking, carrying instruments, and escorting and transferring patients.
