Part Time - Clinical Research Assistant I - Trauma and Critical Care Surgery

Description: Medical College of Wisconsin is currently seeking to employ Part Time - Clinical Research Assistant I - Trauma and Critical Care Surgery right now, this position will be placed in Wisconsin. Responsible for supportive assistance! to research and hospital staff, lab processing and blood product delivery to assure continuity of research protocol flow.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Individual will be on rotating duty for the duration of study (approximately 1 ½ years).
2. Respond to all Trauma Call and Trauma Alert pages by being in the Trauma Bay prior to arrival of patient.
3. Obtain vacutainer tubes for PROPPR blood samples and hand off to staff performing blood draw.
4. Interview EMS staff and collect data on pre-hospital interventions if needed.
5. Retrieve drawn blood samples and contact anesthesia tech for study in-house processing/testing.
6. Retrieve drawn blood samples and process for study send-out processing/testing.
7. Collection and entry of required data for study onto clinical case report forms.
8. Maintain daily information log of patient screenings. Distribute forms to appropriate locations after each shift.

9. Under guidance, assist with coordination of basic stud! y activities.
10. Compile data and lab collection packets.
11. Report off to oncoming shift regarding patientsâ status, location, and enrollment.
12. Weekend rounding in the SICU on actively enrolled patients to collect needed data.
OTHER DUTIES
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis
Education:
High School Diploma required

Bachelors degree in a scientific field preferred
Experience:
6 months of related experience
Certifications/Licenses:
CITI training is required within 90 days of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Strong problem solving and attentiveness to detail required. Ability to work independently and as part of a t! eam. Ability to observe sometimes disturbing medical situations in the ED and operating room while maintaining focus on required tasks.
