Performs first or second assistant duties under the direct supervision of the surgeon to facilitate smooth procedure completion.
- Demonstrates knowledge of specialized equipment in a variety of surgical specialties.
- Ensures needed instruments are available.
- Assists with the break down of rooms upon completion of procedure assisting with room cleaning and disposal of supplies.
- Develops and maintains physician preference cards.
- Facilitates educational needs of the department to ensure quality care.
- Serves as a preceptor for newer associates.
- Commitment to personal growth and competence to maintain knowledge of current procedures and trends.
