The central service department is the hub of all activity surrounding supplies and equipment needed for surgery, obstetrics and other patient care areas. Central Service Technicians play an important role by preventing infections in all patient care areas. Central Services at Saint Michael's Hospital supports the facility for all its sterilizing needs. The Central Sterilizing Technician, under the supervision of the Central Service/Sterilization Supervisor performs assigned tasks that support and compliment the institution's services and quality of care to patients.
The Central Sterilizing Technician performs a wide variety of duties related to preparing, processing, cleaning, sterilizing, packaging, storing and dispensing of instruments, equipment and supplies for patient care throughout the institution, as well as other clinics, with the Surgery department as our primary customer. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of Operating Room Technician or Central Service Technician course preferred. Competency should be demonstrated by passing the Central Service Technician Certification exam by the beginning of the fourth year of employment.
Previous Central Service experience preferred. Basic computer skills a plus; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook. Normal Weekly Hours-36(Full-time) Shift-Variable Job-Sterile Processing Services Primary Location-WI-Stevens Point-Saint Michael's Hospital Organization-Saint Michael's Hospital
