Responsibilities:
Competently operates ultrasound equipment to perform basic to advanced non-invasive vascular ultrasound procedures such as abdominal/visceral, peripheral and extra-cranial procedures. Assists physician with invasive procedures when necessary. Prepares patient! s for procedures and obtains clinical history from the patient including vascular related physical findings and pertinent laboratory data. Compares requisitions to physicians’ order to ensure exam accuracy. Positions patient and selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures. Adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images.
Performs scans of various anatomical areas and makes the necessary measurements required for the interpretation to obtain accurate, high quality results. Identifies cross-sectional human anatomy, distinguishing normal from abnormal, to establish initial evaluation of sonograms. Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images. Communicates clinical findings to the appropriate staff. Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study inf! ormation into the radiology information system, and documents billing c! odes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.

Qualifications:
Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) for hospital level II and all employees in medical groups. Hospital level I needs to obtain within 1 year, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). May obtain within 6 months based on department discretion Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography. Knowledge and proficiency in non-invasive vascular ultrasound procedures such as abdominal/visceral, peripheral and extra-cranial procedures. Knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology, and of aseptic techniques. Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members. Ability to work inde! pendently. Intermediate computer skills.
