This Financial Associate position is at Affinity Medical Group in New London and the hours are primarily Monday thru Friday from 8 am to 5 pm (40 hrs/wk). Will also work some days at Affinity Medical Group in Clintonville and Greenville.
Responsible for clinic posting and coding and provider hospital coding to include suspense file, coding denial research, and provider coding education.
Receives clinic encounter forms and reviews informat! ion on encounter forms for accuracy and completeness.
! Codes any written diagnoses on encounter forms using the appropriate International Classification of Disease (ICD-9) Code. Checks coded diagnoses on encounter forms to ensure conformity and adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
Codes written descriptions of services provided using appropriate current procedural terminology (CPT) codes and in accordance with all relevant laws, regulations and policies. Checks encounter forms for missing or incorrect services and adds or adjusts codes accordingly.
Receives billing documentation daily from local and outlying hospitals, including hospital service record, admit and/or discharge notices, surgery schedules, emergency room patient lists, etc. Processes all documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures, codes and reconciles charges and days of service to ensure accurate coding and complete service coverage from admission to discharge. Codes and bills for hospital profess! ional component.
Reconciles daily reports such as missing charges, suspense file and denial reports.
Assists in balancing cash drawer and reconciling daily deposit.
Posts daily charges and payments utilizing designated coding tools to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Completes daily error corrections to patient accounts.
Qualifications
High School diploma required. Previous education in medical terminology and CPT and ICD-9 coding required.
Previous Medical office experience required.
1 - 3 year's clinical coding experience preferred.
