The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for an academic neuropathologist in the tenure track. The candidate will be ! appointed in the department with 5/8ths funding available from the William S. Middleton Veterans Administration Hospital (VA). Qualified candidates should possess an MD or MD/PhD and be board eligible or certified in anatomic pathology or AP/CP as well as neuropathology. Candidate must be qualified for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Wisconsin.
The University of Wisconsin Medical Center is a tertiary care center with state of the art neuro-imaging, neurology and neurological surgery programs. The successful applicant will be expected to provide neuropathology clinical expertise in surgical as well as autopsy pathology, and also to contribute actively to the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students, mentor trainees, and to participate in continuing medical education programs. Candidates will show a record of scholarly achievement appropriate to the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (tenure track). Salary will be competitive! and commensurate with experience.
A majority of the ! appointee's time will be protected to engage in scholarly research. The individual will be expected to continue or develop a strong research program in the area of neurodegenerative diseases and to mentor graduate students. Graduate student training opportunities are available in the department Cellular & Molecular Pathology program and the neuroscience training program. He/she will dedicate significant effort to the NIA -funded Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center ( ADRC ) and will lead the ADRC Neuropathology Core at the University of Wisconsin. Association with the ADRC provides numerous opportunities for collaboration, and due to the VA appointment, the successful candidate will be eligible for VA merit review grant funding as well.
