Responsibilities
The OB Tech performs as a member of the obstetrics team providing expertise in handling surgical instruments and equipment during routine and emergency operative cases. Assembles and prepares equipment, instruments, and supplies for all obstetrical operative deliveries, using surgeon preference cards as a reference. Sets up and maintains the intra-operative sterile field while anticipating and responding to the surgeon's intra-operative needs. Supports the surgeon during complicated or anticipated high-risk vaginal births, including but not limited to mid-forceps, breech deliveries, double set ups, and any other birth where scrub and te! chnical expertise is required. May function as a second assist! . Understands and maintains current knowledge and practice of family-centered care and hospital policies and procedures. Requirements: Graduate of an approved one year surgical technologist program. May consider candidates that have completed a structured on the job training program.
