At Aurora Health Care our Medical Assistants work alongside physicians by performing various tasks and assisting with all aspects of pa! tient care including basic lab and screening procedures, as ap! propriate. Imagine yourself…
Preparing and rooming the patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, medications).
Performing laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines.
Assisting the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
Administering routine medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins and topical agents. Providing basic patient education on the performance of routine tasks or skills. Following through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services. Refering questions to registered nurses and physician! s/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relaying information back to patient as directed.
Communicating with physicians and other members of the health care team. Documenting and communicating accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
Performing advanced clinical support tasks or skills such as removal of sutures and staples, straight catheterization, audiograms, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen, phlebotomy ? butterfly, venous access, heel stick), EKG, spirometry, holter monitor application, casting, etc., with demonstrated competency and under clinical supervision.
Organizing and preparing exam rooms, lab and work areas including: cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Assisting with clerical, reception or medical records duties.
Completing routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instrume! nts and other equipment.
Participating in patient centered initiati! ves, care management, performance and quality improvement activities.
Performing various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
Positions open in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/Gyn, Pediatrics, Women's Health and Dermatology, etc. Full-time and part time opportunities throughout Metro Milwaukee and surrounding counties in various areas of patient care.

Qualifications:
Advanced training beyond High School as a Medical Assistant.
Demonstrated competency in performing skills such as: injections, immunizations, EKG, obtaining vital signs, routine medication administration, aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, staff and physicians.
Proficient computer skil! ls including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). May obtain within 6 months based on department discretion.

Desired Qualifications

One year related clinical experience preferred

Scheduled Hours:
Hours will vary depending on patient service hours, primarily Monday through Friday 1st shift. Some clinics are open on evenings and weekends.
