HOURS: Hours are worked between late August and late May with some minor things to do in the summer months. Time off between semesters (late December/early January) is to be expected. Typically work 24-25 hours per week:
Mondays â€" 8am-4pm
Tuesdays â€" 8am-5pm
Wednesdays â€" 8am-12Noon
Thursdays â€" 8am-12Noon
SALARY: $17/hour

POSITION SUMMARY
This position plays a critic! al role in the operation of the N.E.W. Uninsured Dental Clinic! by insuring volunteer dentists are available to work with NWTC Dental Assistant students in order to provide needed services. Working with multiple organizations and individuals requires this person to have excellent communication (oral and written) skills. Collaboration with the Dental faculty is a key component to insure student success in the Dental Assistant program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Maintain efficient and organized Clinic Operations
Orient dentists to Clinic and equipment
Oversee student set-up in Clinic
Prepare/maintain inventory for equipment and supplies for Uninsured/N.E.W. Clinic
Maintain a clean! and safe working environment
Manage client records
Follow OSHA and infection control standards
Assist the N.E.W.Community Clinic in recruiting and scheduling volunteer dentists and dental health professionals. Coordinate and schedule partial/denture patients.
Function as patient contact with the N.E.W. Clinic and N.E.W. Clinic at NWTC.
Collaborate with Dental Faculty
Assist faculty in student clinic orientation
Secure sites for affiliation based on faculty outline of student needs
Attend Dental Assistant team meetings.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, & SKILLS:
Skills, experience, and strong knowledge of MS Office suite, internet browsers, and college- and student-related software (e.g. PeopleSoft), and standard office equipment (multi-line telephone, copier, printer, computer systems, etc.)

Knowledge of:
Dental Scheduling/Equipment/Supplies
Dental terminology
Safety precautions
Bloodbourne Pathogen s! tandards and OSHA guidelines
Material Safety Data sheets (MSDS) Dental software (e.g. Dentrix), digital radiography, intraoral camera, and nitrous oxide set up.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Technical diploma in Dental Assistant or an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene is required. Dental Assistant Certification is required. Must be able to keep certification by acquiring appropriate number of continuing education units through the Dental Assisting National Board.
Experience: Three years of Dental Assistant work experience is required. Experience in oral surgery and prosthodontics is very helpful.
**An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
