Ministry Health Care has an opportunity for a Coding Quality and Education Specialist. The Specialist will travel to other Ministry Health Care facilities to support the training of the coders. The specialist may work at any of our facilities. This is a 40 hour a week, Monday through Friday day shift position.
The Coding Quality and Education Specialist is responsible for auditing coded records to insure accuracy of the code assignments and identify areas where further education is needed related to potential risk areas for coding quality and formulate action plans or in-services for delivering the education. Provides routine and focused education to coding staff and providers as well as the education, training and auditing of new coders. The selected candidate focus will be in emergency room and outpatient coding. Candidates with emergency room coding and E/M coding experience strongly preferred.
Skills Required!
Extensive knowledge of various payment methodologies! (APC, DRG, Rehabilitation, Psychiatric, etc.), ICD-9, ICD-10 CPT-4, and HCPCS coding systems and CMS coding requirements.
Knowledge of various hospital information systems, encoders and other technology to facilitate a virtual work environment while maintaining maximum communication and adhering to HIPAA security standards.
Highly motivated and self-directed yet able to connect with a team Proficient in MS Office products including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
Excellent organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills
Strong technical skills are required to learn and navigate a variety of software systems, trouble-shoot computer problems, and work efficiently in a virtual environment.
Strong problem-solving skills
Proficiency in computer usage including database and spreadsheet analysis
Ability to travel between sites within Ministry Health Care
Strong atten! tion to detail is crucial to this position.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information is critical for this position

Qualifications
Associates degree in Health Information Management
RHIT and/or CCS
Minimum of 5 years of experience in all phases of acute care facility coding, abstracting and charge capture (inpatient, emergency room, ambulatory surgery, and ancillary) strongly preferred.
Applicable experience in either inpatient or hospital outpatient coding will be considered.
Minimum of 5 years of experience coding with ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, H! CPCS;
