At Aurora Health Care our Surgery T! echnicians p erform a variety of preparatory, scrubbing and re! lated services necessary to provide patient service in the operating room. They assist with surgical cases in all specialty areas, or may specialize in a surgical specialty where applicable. They serve as a First Assistant for basic cases as necessary

Performing all types of procedures and maintaining advanced knowledge of a variety of procedures. Specializing in a surgical specialty area, where applicable, serving as a resource to others and assisting with complex surgical cases .
Ensuring the environmental disinfection, safety and efficiency of the operating room. This includes setting up the room for each case including moving equipment (i.e., tables, cameras, microscopes, fracture table, and instrument pans), operating the various types of equipment used during operating room procedures, and returning equipment post procedure .
Functioning as a First or Second Assistant as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, holding retra! ctors, cauterizing, application of surgical dressings and wound closure under the direct guidance of a surgeon .
Transporting patients and/or equipment and supplies .
Acting as a resource and precepting Surgical Technologists I and/or participates in department or facility committees or work teams .
Performing various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.

Qualifications:
Advanced training beyond High School in Surgical Technology.
Requires 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist .
Surgical Technologist certification (CST) issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), obtained within two years of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Completion of a suturing class approved by supervisor.
Proficient in all surgical s! pecialties with expertise in a minimum of two.
Advanced knowledge a! nd skill of aseptic surgical techniques used in the preparation of materials, supplies and equipment for various surgical procedures and suturing.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and recognize physician’s needs and changes that require unplanned or unanticipated interventions and respond appropriately.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer proficiency.

Scheduled Hours:
Full time and Part time positions available on 1st & 2nd shift.
