MEDICAL ASSISTANT/PSR- BEHAVIORAL CARE- VERNON DRIVE

OVERALL EXPECTATIONS STATEMENT
Providing exceptional care for our patients as well as recognizing the value

of your co-workers is the expectation of all members of the Prevea Clinic

organization. All members are expected to focus on the patient's needs;

relate to all in a friendly, accepting manner; communicate in a positive and

professional way to patients and co workers; use time effectively and

efficiently; and demonstrate an overall high level of performance.

Required Skills

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (This may not include all of the duties assigned.)

Room Patients.

Obtain brief patient history and complaint.

Order x-rays when appropriate.

Assist with office procedures.

Provide telephone advice to patients as directed.

Communicate with providers regarding patient calls.

Call in prescription refills as directed.

Schedule hospital and office tests, procedures and surg! eries.

Communicate with hospitals and other offices a! s directed by the providers.

Complete referral forms, and make referral appointments.

Act as a liaison for physicians.

Update the medical record by filing dictation and test results as they return to

the department.

Pre-certify for surgical procedures and tests.

Assist physicians with scheduling.

Facilitate completion of forms (ex. W/C, insurance, etc by the physicians.)

PSR Position

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

Assist in the selection, training and development of an effective and efficient staff.

Acts as a role model for staff through professional conduct, adhering to dress code, appropriate communication, excellent customer service skills and supports management decisions.

Identify, discuss and counsel staff with regard to patient care, decision-making, staff related problems, personal conflicts and facilitate resolu! tions.

Promote and encourage personal and professional growth of staff through facilitating attendance at seminars, conferences and workshops in order to keep abreast of rules, regulations and information pertinent to the Patient Service Representatives.

Assist the Manager in computer optimization, by building and maintaining physician schedules in their respective department/areas.

Assist with monthly schedules, distributing employee correspondence; assume responsibility for processing timecards for dedicated areas.

In the absence of the Manager, assumes duties and responsibilities to provide continual support to employees of the department.

Conduct performance evaluations.

Assists with annual budget process and reviews budgets, making the appropriate variances when needed.

10. Identifies and supports customer service initiatives of the clinic.

11. To perform PSR duties when not in supervisor capacity.!

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

The ability to communicate ! effectively with staff members and patients both orally and in writing is essential.

Knowledgeable of the computer systems used in the Clinic, with an emphasis on learning and training on the Epic system.

The ability to project a “positive” attitude, along with the ability to handle challenging situations with maturity, confidentiality and minimum supervision is necessary.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Must display excellent teamwork

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

CMA with current Wisconsin license preferred or a graduate of Medical Assistant program.

Current CPR certification.

Excellent communication skills.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Other duties as assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual

and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. In! volves standing and walking.

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 250 pounds as needed for

patient transfer (with assistance or other staff). Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds

of supplies. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Possible exposure

to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other

conditions common to a clinic environment.
