Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Â

Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of hospital coding services for Ministry Health Care to ensure compliance with HIM coding division key performance metrics and quality, productivity, and turnaround time expectations:
Prioritizes coding functions to meet coding division needs
Monitor and adjust workflows for efficiency
Implement system standardization for coding workflows
Perform and document scheduled meetings and huddles with coding staff

Responsible for management of staff:
Hiring, ! orientation and training of new staff in accordance with HIM d! ivision training guidelines
Performance management including coaching, performance improvement plans and terminations
Performance evaluations
Scheduling of staff
Time card management
Responsible for monitoring staff productivity and quality according to HIM coding division plans:
Monitor productivity data entered on a weekly basis to identify issues
Provide training & education for staff as needed to insure data is accurately collected and reported
Ensures productivity standards are communication and enforced
Report recurring and significant issues to System Coding Services Manager for follow-up
Provide explanation of variances, issues, etc to System Coding Services Manager monthly
Completes HIM Coding Division, departmental and committee reports as assigned. May include the following:
Weekly and Monthly Performance Metric Reports
Joint Commission or Committee reports
Budget variance reports
Other reports as assi! gned
Responsible for tracking vendor turnaround time and quality issues.  Follows-up with vendor on issues and monitors progress of performance.  Reports all issues to the System Coding Services Manager for additional follow-up and vendor relations
Actively participates as requested in the system plan for ICD-10 preparedness
Serves as coding subject matter expert for coding staff and system.  Participates on system and facility committees as assigned
Assures that all Federal and State laws regarding coding and billing are followed in addition to facility/system coding guidelines, hospital policies, medical staff and accrediting agencies. Â Maintains current knowledge of technical and regulatory changes regarding coding, billing, and reimbursement systems
Develops standardized coding practices that establish Best Practices for hospital coding services. Responsible for continually analyzing and improving coding work flows
Participate in ! annual review and revision of policies and procedures and coding guidel! ines for hospital coding services. Create new policies as assigned
Collaborates with medical staff, case management, clinical documentation improvement program, RAC team, quality, patient financial services, compliance on documentation issues impacting code assignment
Manages data reporting to WHA (Wisconsin Hospital Association) on a quarterly basis, as assigned
Support Ministry Health Care IT strategic initiatives as related to HIM and coding to insure successful implementation Compensation and Benefits:
