JOB TITLE: Manager Patient Services - Surgery, Ambulatory Surgery & PACU

Specific Purpose:
Under the general direction of the Director, Patient Services, or Vice President, Campus Operations/Nurse Executive and within the policies and procedures of CSM, the Director, Patient Services is responsible for administering nursing programs to maintain standards of patient care.

CSM LEADERSHIP:
Provides leadership to areas of responsibility by developing a vision that is aligned with CSM's mission, vision and strategic plan.

  • Articulates the vision of the organization to develop a shared purpose of work and a sense of teamwork.
  • Ensures that the department provides quality and cost-e! ffective services to its customers.
  • Coaches staff by providing ongoing feedback to individuals and department.
  • Develops relationships with others inside and outside of the department/organization to further the mission of the organization.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of spirituality which brings meaning to lives and which makes us distinctively human.
  • Serves as a strong CSM liaison with Ascension Health and partners/collaborates with other national quality organizations such as but not limited to IHI and Premier, etc.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the quality of patient care by nurses and other allied health staff in a specific area. Insures that care provided to patients and families meets all standards of practice that are internal and external (national associations: ANA, AORN, NACOG) are followed and met. Insures that the care environment is safe for patients and staff.
  • Cost effec! tive management of (area of accountability) through collaboration with the Director, Patient Services develops and implements the approved budget. Monitors variances for cause/correction. Understands financial concepts relevant to the organization and unit of accountability.
  • Retains, recognizes, coaches, fosters staff development and satisfaction by treating employees fairly, resolving conflicts appropriately, embracing diversity, encouraging participation in unit/hospital based decision-making forums, Process Improvement and promoting an atmosphere of trust. Provides guidelines for unit staffing patterns consistent with productivity standards and quality care.
  • Develops a collaborative and positive working relationship with Medical staff. Solicits their feedback and ideas to improve patient care and opportunities for program development.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of customer needs and expectations. Incorporates customer feedback into departmen! t goals/Process Improvement.
  • Measures performance against oper! ating plans and benchmarks, implementing improvements as needed to achieve outcomes. Improvements are based on patient/physician/employee feedback, organizational goals and initiatives, technological advances, changing health-care patterns and reimbursement variations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program; Bachelor’s degree

Experience:
Progressive and proven leadership experience required

Certifications, Licensees: Current RN License in the State of Wisconsin
